Drinking and Smoking during Pregnancy

 How does a mother's behavior influence the development of their fetus?
There's a very big inluence of the mother's behavior, because while she is pregnant eveything she does, drinks or eates affects the baby. So if the mother drinks alcohol it causes severe behavior and learning disorder. And the kid is going to have a reallly poor coordination. If the mother takes drugs like for example steroids can kill the baby. Smoking can casue bone damage, stunts growth, and  facial abnormalities. Foods like for example: lobster, salmon, tuna, swordfish can cause damage for the baby because it has a high level of mercury in it. Also if the mother listens to very loud music can also cause ear functioning for the baby.

We all learned about nine planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. 
The planet Pluto was demoted to “dwarf planet” status in 2006.

But in the early 1990s, many scientists remained skeptical that such planets existed, or if they did exist, that it would be possible to see and study them.
Since the first exoplanet discovery, astronomers have discovered more than 700 other. Akmost everyone of them you can see with a ground-based telescopes. All of them are probably small and Earth-sized.fe.

No two worlds seem to be the same, and they challenge what we know about solar systems. “All these systems are almost like a children’s game,” Seager says, “where anything goes — any planet you can imagine — in terms of mass and distance from its star. It’s really incredible.”

4.I don't think that Jeremy is mentally ill. He is maybe differnt but he is not mentally ill. I think he has depressions, and that's also the reason why Ithink he killed himself.
17.Clooning a person should be forbidden in my opinion. If a person needs some organs (for example: Liver, heat, lung, pancreasthen not otherwise yes. Cloning of animals should stay maybe but cloning of people should be forbidden forever.

Lab-Make the Right Call

Problem: How can you predict the possible results of genetic crosses?

Analyze and Conclude 


1. Make a Punnet square for each of the crosses you modeled in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.















2. When you cross two homozygous parents, BB and bb, you get only one kind of offspring, Bb. The results agree with the marble model 100%.


3. 50 % of the offspring would be heterozygous and 50% would be homozygous if a homozygous and heterozygous are crossed. They don't agree with the marble model because in the marble model it shows 60% are homozygous and 40% are heterozygous.


4. There are three different kinds of offspring when two heterozyogous parents are crossed; BB 25%, bb 25% and Bb 50%. NO the results don't mach because in the model BB is 70% bB is 10% and bb is 20%.


5. The Punnett square is theoretical and shows perfect results. If you cross 100 times it would be more accurate than 10 times because there is more Data to calculate.


6. The Punnett square and the marble model have similarities and differences. The Punnett square and the marble model show the percentage of offspring.They both show which two parents were crossed. The Punnet square is easier to make and to see but it shows a theoretical outcome. The marble model takes longer but it shows real results. Both of these are useful in different situations depending on the needs of the researcher.

Cracking the Code of Life


Would you want to be tested to learn whether they had a genetic disease or predisposition if no cure was available?  Why or why not?

1. I wouldn't want to be tested because to know that you have a genetic disease is not a nice feeling.You would think always about that and think about your family are they getting it,too or not? But there are some people who    would be tested because they wanna know is their life going to be short with a disease or long without any diseases.

Would you agree to have your DNA be part of the study?  Why or why not?  Would you want royalties for your part in finding the gene?  What if during the testing, the company discovered you had a gene that might result in a health problem later in life?  Would you want to be informed?  Why or why not?   
2. I would agree that my DNA is a part of the study because if they sell it to people who have these diseases they could be GEHEILT. If they find something in my gene that is going to make me problems later in my life i woulndn't want tobe informed  I would think about that too much.

Identify the meaning of the terms genetic discrimination and genetic privacy.  What are some ways to protect against this type of genetic discrimination? 
3.Genetic Discriminaton is when ''people are treated differently by their employer or insurance company because they have a gene mutation that causes or increases the risk of an inherited disorder.'' Genetic privacy is a protection for people, from unauthorized disclosure.

Guiding Question:How does concentration of a solution affect the rate of the reaction?
Hypothesis: I think that every substance is different.
Exploration:aluminium foil, water, spoon, CuSO4, googles
Variables:The amount of water.
Manipulated: The color in each glass.
Response:I think that the four aluminium foils are going to have a other result because in each glass in a different sum of Copper sulfate
Concept Application: Next time me and my group could put sugar in the glasses with Copper sulfate and water then it would be faster.

The region in which stars are made, 30 Doradus, is one of the largest located close to the Milky Way, in the neighboring galaxy Large Magellanic Cloud. About 2,400 giant stars in the center of 30 Doradus, also known as the Tarantula Nebula, are making intense radiation and powerful winds while they blow off matter.

nebula, which comes from the Latin word for mist or cloud, is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogenhelium, and other gasesMany nebulae or stars form from the gravitational collapse of gas in the interstellar medium. As the material collapses, massive stars form in the center, and their ultraviolet radiation ionizes the surrounding gas, making it visible at optical wavelengths.

Astronomy – the oldest of the natural sciences. Astronomy is the only science in which you cannot perform experiments directly ; you can’t weigh, touch or smell your subject matter… You can only observe the radiation ( visible light, radio, infra-red) which comes to earth.

What fascinates us is how there's so many unanswered questions. The Universe is enormous, and literally anything is possible if we keep exploring space. There's just so much to learn about the Universe than there is to learn about anything else.
